Keynote speaker: Leonardo Chiariglione

Speech: Future Standards for Mobile Multimedia
Biography:

Leonardo Chiariglione graduated from the Polytechnic of Turin and obtained his Ph. D. degree from the University of Tokyo in 1973.
He has been at the forefront of a number of initiatives that have helped shape media technology and business as we know them today. Among these the Moving Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) standards committee which he founded and chairs and the Digital Media Project of which he was the proponent and is the current president.
Dr. Chiariglione is the recipient of several awards: among these the IBC John Tucker award, the IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics award and the Kilby Foundation award.
Since January 2004 he is the CEO of CEDEO.net, a consulting company advising major multinational companies on matters related to digital media.




Keynote speaker: Albert Gauthier

Speech: Integrating knowledge and content processing
Biography:

Albert Gauthier works at the European Commission in Luxembourg, at Directorate General Information Society and Media. The mission of his unit is to promote and manage research, development and innovation activities related to Internet content, interactive media and knowledge technologies.
His team supports the development of semantic-based and context-aware technologies. They are also entrusted with research on technologies to support the creation of new forms of digital content.




Keynote speaker: Bartolomé Arroyo-Fernández

Speech: Networked Media Collaborative EU R&D: State of Play and Future Opportunities
Biography:

Bartolomé Arroyo-Fernández (Ingeniero Superior de Telecomunicación 1972 UPM, Madrid, Spain; M.S. 1976, GWU, Washington DC) is currently deputy head of the group in the European Commission dealing with collaborative R&D on''Networked Audiovisual Services and Home Platform''. He joined the European Commission in 1989 and since then he has been involved in managing the European R&D programs (RACE, ACTS and IST) particularly in the areas of satellite, wireless, mobile and personal communications. He was with Telefónica de España, were he was involved in advanced satcoms developments. He was a researcher at Comsat Labs and ITT Laboratories of Spain.
