Special Session
MOBILIA - “Mobility Concepts and IMT-advanced”
collocated with MOBIMEDIA - 6th International Mobile Multimedia Communications Conference
Future multi-network broadband wireless systems and services will need advanced air interfaces at PHY and System layers, including MIMO techniques, as well as seamless session roaming between access networks. In addition, in such future environments terminals should be reconfigurable, able to optimise power consumption, and take benefit from available positioning information.
The special session will focus on some of the most interesting challenges which will be brought about with the upcoming wireless communication technologies, addressing various issues, mainly in the context of mobility, positioning and radio technology concepts for IMT-advanced, covering 3GPP LTE, IEEE 802.16j, IEEE 802.16m (WiMAX2) and beyond.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Resource management in heterogeneous wireless access
- Analysis of performance: B3G system-level simulations
- Cooperative MIMO capacity and relays
- Advanced PHY/MAC layer algorithms
- Reconfigurability at the user terminal
- High mobility and multi-rate architectures
- Power saving optimisation
- Location-aided communications
